Clark County itself has a rich educational history. The Clark County School District was established in 1956. This consolidation brought together 14 separate school districts. Before that, each district operated independently.

R. Guild Gray was superintendent during this transition. He noted the district’s size would surpass even the state highway department. In 1956, the district served over 20,000 students. Clark County had about 103,000 residents then.

The school district faced funding challenges due to rapid population growth. Despite these challenges, the district continued to expand.

From the 1990s to 2007, student enrollment grew tremendously. Voters approved bond issues to construct new schools. Some years saw as many as 16 new schools opening. In the 2015–16 school year, there were over 320,400 students.

The Clark County School District also runs a Safekey program. This program provides before and after school care. It is available to students in grades K-8 at participating schools. Safekey offers activities like games, arts and crafts, and a reading program. It aims to enhance children’s social growth.

The Safekey program operates Monday through Friday. Its hours are from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. It is closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

The Clark County School District continues to evolve. It adapts to meet the needs of its students and community. Clark Community School Park provides green space.
