Established in 1981, City University of Macau has a rich history. It first began as the University of East Asia. Later, it transitioned to the Asia International Open University (Macau) in 1992. Finally, it adopted its current name, City University of Macau, in 2011. City University of Macau is a private institution located in Taipa. The university offers a wide array of programs. These include doctorate, master’s, and bachelor’s degrees. There are also pre-college courses available. City University of Macau has over 8,500 students and a faculty of over 300. The campus covers 8.6 hectares. City University of Macau’s Taipa campus sits at the highest altitude in Macau. The campus was previously situated in the Royal Center Building on Avenida do Dr. Rodrigo Rodrigues. In 2015, it moved back to the original site of the University of Macau. The university prides itself on its application-oriented approach and international focus. It offers programs in Chinese, English, and Portuguese across nine faculties. These faculties encompass Business, Data Science, Finance, Humanities and Social Sciences, Innovation and Design, and International Tourism and Management. There’s also a School of Education, a School of Law, and the Institute for Research on Portuguese-Speaking Countries.
