Is it possible for a church to be more than just a building? Here at City of Refuge Christian Fellowship in San Antonio, the answer is a resounding yes. Founded in 1990 by Apostle Bruce and Sherry Gunkle, this church was built on a vision of hope and healing. Bruce Gunkle, a gifted teacher, believed in the power of covenant and its ability to create a community. He envisioned a place where the brokenhearted could find solace, the spiritually lost could find guidance, and everyone could come together as one.
Sadly, Apostle Gunkle passed away in 2021. But his legacy lives on through City of Refuge Christian Fellowship. The church continues to be a beacon of hope, offering Sunday services filled with praise, worship, and powerful sermons. It’s a place where you can explore your faith through bible study, find strength in intercessory prayer, and connect with others who share your beliefs. The spirit of Apostle Gunkle’s vision, “Building kingdom people who will strengthen families, impact their city and change the world” can be felt in every aspect of City of Refuge Christian Fellowship. It’s a testament to the power of faith, community, and the enduring impact one person’s vision can have.
