City Gate Church is located in Chiang Mai. Chiang Mai is known as the Rose of the North. The church’s mission extends beyond its walls. It includes six daughter churches. These churches are in Hill Tribe villages. They are scattered across Northern Thailand.
City Gate Church is devoted to evangelism. It focuses on discipleship. Mission work is also very important.
Once, Pastor Gampon led the church in a 20-day fast. Members prayed. Some missed meals. Others fasted completely. This spiritual dedication changed the church’s atmosphere.
Now, all church members arrive on time. This is quite a miracle. They pray in small groups. Services are filled with a sense of power. New people visit each week. Conversions happen often. Recently, twelve people were baptized at City Gate Church. The church asks for prayers for these new believers.
A visiting speaker from India, Matthew Kuruvilla, impacted many. He spoke at City Gate Church and others in Chiang Mai. His messages were entertaining. They were easy to understand. Many healings occurred. He challenged the church to grow. He wanted to see a church of 500 by Christmas.
City Gate Church also focuses on its daughter churches. A seminar was held at Bethlehem Church. Pastors and youth from other daughter churches attended. Bethlehem is one of the weaker churches. The goal was to inspire them. Hill-tribe people find it easier to relate. They connect more when hearing from their peers.
Christmas visits to daughter church villages are important. These visits offer outreach opportunities. People are interested in Christmas. The church holds a celebration. A party extends the outreach into the village. Practical blessings are given. These include blankets and clothes. A medical clinic is also provided.
City Gate Church was invited to hold a teaching seminar. It was for 50 pastors in a neighboring country. This country is closed to many. Good teaching is needed there. Travel is long and uncomfortable. Many pastors walk six hours to the road. Then, they take a three-hour bus journey.
