What if I told you that even cemeteries hold stories? Right here, before us, lies the Cimitero di Pero. The Cimitero di Pero might appear unassuming at first glance. But don’t let that fool you. This cemetery, much like the city of Milan itself, has witnessed the passage of time and holds within its grounds echoes of lives lived. The Cimitero di Pero serves as the final resting place for many of Pero’s past residents. Interestingly, the cemetery closes briefly each year for a rather unique reason. From December 9th to 20th, with the exception of December 14th and 15th, the Cimitero di Pero closes for routine exhumations. This period allows for the respectful handling of burial sites nearing the end of their terms, showcasing the cycle of life and remembrance that defines a place like the Cimitero di Pero. As we stand here, imagine the stories whispered on the breeze, a testament to the enduring connection between the living and those who rest here at the Cimitero di Pero.
