Beneath these weathered stones lies more than rest. This is Cimitero di Corbetta. It is a testament to lives lived and stories etched in stone.

Cimitero di Corbetta stands in Corbetta. Its location is on Via IV Novembre within the town. This cemetery is both a religious and ritualistic place. It has served as a cemetery since the 17th and 18th centuries. Today, it still functions as a cemetery. The local municipality owns the land.

Imagine stepping through the gates of Cimitero di Corbetta. You are entering a place of memories. The air is still. A profound quiet blankets the grounds. Sunlight filters through ancient trees. It casts long shadows on the weathered stones. The scent of earth and aged stone fills your senses.

This wasn’t always the location for Corbetta’s departed. Before 1804 burials took place next to the parish church. Napoleon’s decree changed that. To prevent disease, cemeteries moved outside town centers. Thus, Cimitero di Corbetta was established.

In 1927, the cemetery expanded. The engineer Giovanni Zari designed the new entrance and first chapels. This was to accommodate Corbetta’s growing population. Yet, for nearly two centuries something was missing: a chapel for funeral rites.

In 2004, a Resurrection Chapel was finally built. Its design mirrors the long colonnade surrounding the cemetery. The chapel features a semicircular structure. A copper-clad wooden roof crowns it. Arched porticos and expansive windows fill the space with light.

Inside this chapel lie several of Corbetta’s former priests. Giacomo Zaccheo, Pasquale Carnaghi and Attilio Barera rest here. Also Italo Zat, Edoardo Sacchi and Bruno Pegoraro are buried here. The chapel now hosts a Mass every second Wednesday of the month.

Cimitero di Corbetta is the final resting place of notable figures. Carlo Dossi known as a writer is buried here. Also Giuseppe Mussi, who was the mayor of Corbetta and Milan. Also he was the Vice President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Kingdom of Italy. Pierino Beretta a partisan rests here too. Aldo Salvi a musician and mayor is here. Giuseppe Resta a senator is buried here.

As you wander through Cimitero di Corbetta notice the blend of ages and styles. The old stones whisper stories of past generations. The newer sections reflect changing times. Each grave is a marker of a life. Each monument represents love and remembrance.

The Cimitero di Corbetta is open every day. Visiting hours are from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM. The cemetery’s phone number is +390297204242.

Take a moment to reflect on the lives commemorated here at Cimitero di Corbetta. Consider the enduring connection between the living and the departed. It serves as a quiet reminder of our shared humanity. It is a place of peace and remembrance. It preserves the stories of those who shaped Corbetta.
