There are two communal cemeteries. Each locality has one. The British 1939-1945 War Graves reside in the cemetery at Berclau. This adjoins the church to the east. Near the northern wall, east of the main gate, seven soldiers from the United Kingdom rest. One of them remains unidentified.

Let’s reflect on some of the identified casualties. Lieutenant Michael Charles Anderson of the Rifle Brigade died on September 3rd 1944. He was only 19 years old. Private Ronald Sydney Askins of the Leicestershire Regiment died on May 26th 1940. He was also 19. Corporal Dennis William Brown, also of the Leicestershire Regiment, died between May 27th and June 4th 1940. He was 22.

Consider Private James William Hubbard. He served in the Leicestershire Regiment. He died between May 27th and June 4th 1940 at the age of 20. Serjeant James MacAulay of the Rifle Brigade died on September 3rd 1944. He was 29 years old. Private William Smith of the Leicestershire Regiment died between May 26th and June 4th 1940. He was 26.
