Ever heard of a church that thrives under a bridge? Right here in San Antonio, you’ll find the unique Church Under the Bridge. This isn’t just a clever name. It reflects the church’s humble beginnings and its incredible mission. Church Under the Bridge started in 1997 under a highway overpass near the old Pearl Brewery. People with a heart for the homeless gathered there to share the Gospel, offer a warm meal, and provide support. Over time, the ministry grew, moving to a small building nearby and officially becoming a non-profit in 2000. By 2005, they needed a new home. That’s when a generous benefactor stepped in, donating land and funding the construction of a brand-new church. This new “Church Under the Bridge” opened its doors in 2011, becoming a beacon of hope for those in need. Today, it partners with numerous churches and community groups to offer even more support, including meals, clothing donations, and spiritual guidance.
