In May 1996, a spark ignited in a Johannesburg living room. This spark was the humble beginning of Church on the Rock. Pastors Peter and Sheela Duraisami, guided by their faith and the encouragement of Apostle Willie F. Wooten, founded this church with a handful of elders and believers. Church on the Rock wasn’t meant to be just another church. It was founded with a vision. This vision was to create a holistic space, a sanctuary where people could find support for their physical, spiritual, and financial well-being. From its modest beginnings, Church on the Rock has blossomed into an international ministry. The church’s impact reaches far beyond the walls of its building. It supports anti-human trafficking projects in India, cares for children in Sri Lanka, and sends missionaries to Uganda, Thailand, and China. The church also organizes short-term mission trips and medical clinics in developing countries. Church on the Rock is a testament to the power of faith and the dedication of its founders. It embodies a vision of a church that doesn’t just preach, but acts. It strives to create a positive impact, extending its reach across borders and cultures. The church’s mission is threefold: to help people experience God, to empower individuals to live fulfilling lives through Christ, and to engage actively with the community. This mission, coupled with core values of prayer, unity, discipleship, family, and evangelism, guides everything Church on the Rock does.
