In 1963, a seed of faith was planted in the heart of Harare. This seed was the Church of the Nazarene. Reverend B. Maurice Hall and his wife arrived in what was then Salisbury, ready to cultivate a spiritual community. The Church of the Nazarene began to blossom. The Halls’ dedication extended beyond the city center, reaching the surrounding suburbs and the vibrant Highfields Township. The Church of the Nazarene wasn’t just a place of worship. It became a beacon of hope, a testament to the power of faith to unite and uplift. Later, in the 1970s, missionaries Jack Barnell and his wife joined the growing mission. Their task was to establish a Bible School in Harare, nurturing the next generation of spiritual leaders. Barnell oversaw every detail, from the construction of the school buildings to the curriculum and staff selection. The Church of the Nazarene continued to grow, its roots deepening in the fertile ground of Harare’s spiritual landscape. It stands today as a symbol of perseverance, a testament to the unwavering faith of those who built it, brick by brick, prayer by prayer.
