Unexpectedly the Church of Our Lady The Inexhaustible Chalice appeared before us. Its story began not in grand architectural plans but in a simple lease. In January 2015 the parish moved to 719 Ocean View Avenue. This wasn’t a lavish new building. It was a commercial space. The Church of Our Lady The Inexhaustible Chalice found a new home.
This humble beginning however belied the church’s rich spiritual history. The name itself hints at a powerful icon. The Inexhaustible Chalice is a revered image in Russia known for miraculous healings. The icon depicts the Virgin Mary holding the Christ Child who stands within a chalice. This image is a powerful symbol of hope and spiritual sustenance.
Archpriest Alexandre Antchoutine became the temporary administrator. Hieromonk Elipheriy Skiba conducted services. They weren’t alone in this undertaking. Metropolitan Hilarion and Bishop Nicholas blessed the new location ensuring its suitability. The Dean of New York Archpriest Alexander Belya later visited. He inspected the premises offering support for the church’s reconstruction.
