Is this where faith finds its home in Brunei? The Church of Our Lady of the Assumption stands before us, a testament to the enduring spirit of the Catholic community here in Bandar Seri Begawan. Its history is woven into the very fabric of this nation. Construction of this church, the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, began in 1957. It took twelve years to complete this monumental task, a testament to the dedication of the people who yearned for a place of worship. Finally, in 1969, on the Feast of the Assumption of Mary, the church was consecrated, its doors thrown open to the faithful. The Church of Our Lady of the Assumption isn’t just a place of worship. It’s a beacon of hope, a sanctuary of peace, and a symbol of unity for the Catholic community in Brunei.
