Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church has many ministries. The church welcomes Pastor Larry Hand as Interim Pastor. Pastor Larry has experience. He is excited to lead worship. He helps through this transitional time. You can find Pastor Larry at Spirit of Joy on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Home Groups offer small group Bible studies. People do life together. It develops spiritual dimensions. It builds relationships outside group settings. Groups include six to twelve people. They include all ages. Some groups welcome children and families. Each meeting includes fellowship, food, and Bible study. Grow spiritually. Grow in relationship with your group.

Here at Spirit of Joy, youth get involved. High school and middle school youth find service events. They attend confirmation classes. They enjoy youth group activities on Sunday evenings. There is a high school summer trip. Randi-Kate Canoy Suhr leads all. Younger students enjoy Sunday School. It is during Sunday services. Kids Klub meets on Wednesday afternoons. Denise Dimmitt coordinates these.

The Men’s Fellowship welcomes you. Join a weekly Bible study or breakfast. It is a great way to start the day. Catch up and connect with brothers in Christ. The Men’s Fellowship helps youth fundraise. They raise money for youth trips. They support youth scholarships. New faces and ideas are always welcome.

Music is at the heart of worship services at Spirit of Joy. The music ministry prepares weekly hymns. It prepares contemporary praise songs and anthems. They do a twice-annual Cantata. Anyone who can contribute positively through music is welcome. Rehearsals are usually on Thursday evenings.

Spirits of Grace is a warm ministry. It welcomes all women of Spirit of Joy. The women’s fellowship helps build each other up. They use faith through volunteer events. They use fundraising and Bible studies. They connect with one another and the community. They share the love of Jesus Christ. They do the work of God through their own hands.

Spirit of Joy hosts Chapter 115 of Prayers and Squares. This is a non-profit prayer ministry. It started in San Diego County in 1992. They meet every Tuesday to create pocket squares. They create lap squares and lap quilts. These are for those who need prayer. Embroidery floss ties hold the quilts together. As each knot is tied, a silent prayer is offered. The quilt is given to that person. Each quilt is special. Prayer is symbolically tied into each one. These comforters are a statement of faith. They testify to belief in God and prayer.

As Christians, we are called to be the body of Christ in the community. The Social Ministry task force at Spirit of Joy provides comfort. It offers relief wherever there is need. Projects include serving Open Door Meals. They serve the less fortunate. They rotate with other churches. Each year, they participate in Operation Christmas Child. They fill shoeboxes with small treasures. They support the Ramona Food and Clothes Closet. The task force highlights charitable organizations each month.

Open Door Meals is a volunteer opportunity. It is a branch of Social Ministries. Ramona churches organize meals at the Ramona Grange. Spirit of Joy hosts Open Door Meals four times a year. The Youth, Men’s Fellowship, and Women’s Fellowship are responsible. It consists of a hot meal. It has salad, bread, and dessert. Extra hands are always welcome.

The Open Door ministry in Ramona was founded in 1993. Bob Denny and others founded it. Their goal was to share the love of Jesus. They wanted to provide a weekly nutritious meal to needy Ramonans. They established In His Steps Recovery Homes. They provide a residential program. Some of those early residents still support Open Door Ministry. Since October 2008, the Ramona Grange has been the home of Open Door. Free meals are served every Monday. This ministry meets a valuable need. This is a wonderful opportunity to serve.
