Chuanshan Cave

Gazing up at Chuanshan Hill, have you ever imagined walking right through it? Chuanshan Cave makes that dream a reality. This cave, sometimes called Moon Cave, pierces right through the hill. Chuanshan Cave is located at the foot of Chuanshan Hill in southeastern Guilin. It boasts an array of stunning formations. Crystal needles, stone twigs, and delicate stone goose feathers decorate the cave. These formations are less common in Guilin’s more famous caves like Reed Flute Cave and Seven-Star Cave. Chuanshan Cave stretches an impressive 1,531 meters. The main cavern is around 348 meters long and 3-5 meters wide. At its most expansive, the cave reaches 30 meters in both height and width. Imagine the echoes of history within these caverns. The cave began forming around 34,000 years ago. It was rediscovered and opened to the public much later, in 1977. The path through Chuanshan Cave twists and turns. Each bend reveals another breathtaking display of nature’s artistry. Formations have evocative names like Swan Bay, Water Curtain Cave, and the Heart-to-heart Stone Shield. These names invite you to use your imagination and see stories in the stone. The cave is part of the larger Chuanshan Hill Park, a beautiful two-square-kilometer park. The park itself is a feast for the eyes, with the Xiaodong River, a tributary of the Li River, winding through it. From the park, you can see Elephant Trunk Hill across the Li River and Turtle Hill on the west bank. Chuanshan Cave offers a unique experience. It combines stunning natural beauty with a touch of human imagination.
