“Simple” might be the word that first springs to mind. Chùa Trúc Lâm stands before us. It’s a testament to serenity amidst the urban sprawl. This Southern Kinh Pagoda has a unique story.

Chùa Trúc Lâm was founded in 1965 by the venerable Tín Đức. It has since undergone several renovations. The most recent significant restoration occurred between 2004 and today. This was initiated due to the pagoda’s deteriorating condition.

Venerable Thích Phúc Hựu mobilized devotees to contribute to the rebuilding. The complex now includes the main hall. There is also a monastic residence. A dining hall and a lecture hall are present.

In 2020, Venerable Thích Phúc Hựu passed away. His final wish was for his disciple. Đại đức Phúc Thịnh was entrusted to care for the pagoda.

Chùa Trúc Lâm observes several major festivals. These include the Lunar New Year. Rằm tháng Giêng occurs in the first lunar month. Rằm tháng Tư is celebrated in the fourth lunar month. Rằm tháng Bảy is in the seventh lunar month. Dâng y Kathina takes place on October 8th. Sám hối ceremonies are held on the 14th and 30th of each month. These evening services are for Buddhist followers. They come to chant scriptures and listen to dharma talks.

Spanning 403 square meters, Chùa Trúc Lâm offers solace to many. Its modest construction provides a serene atmosphere. It is a place for reflection and spiritual growth.
