Beneath the Hanoi sun stands Chùa Giao Quang also known as Chùa Phúc Lâm. It sits about 12km west of Hanoi’s heart.

Like other ancient temples in this area Chùa Giao Quang was built early. It followed traditional Vietnamese village architectural plans for religious buildings. Sadly no records tell us exactly when it was built. The current design suggests the late 19th or early 20th century.

However clues remain. Stone tablets from the Nguyễn Dynasty suggest it existed before 1838. These relics hint at a rich past hidden within Chùa Giao Quang.

Chùa Giao Quang is built on high spacious ground. It is located within the village residential area. The layout includes gates and a main temple shaped like the word “Đinh”. This includes the Tiền đường and Thượng điện halls. The Tổ temple sits next to the main temple’s right wall. The Mẫu house is on the left side of the courtyard before the Tam bảo.

Gardens surround the area with ponds trees and a graveyard. There is also a kitchen and other buildings. The main temple has a bell-shaped structure with the Tiền đường. The Thượng điện faces east-southeast toward a village pond.

Today Chùa Giao Quang holds relics. Though few they have historical cultural and artistic value. These include statues bronze objects stone items and wooden artifacts. Other items include flower vases incense burners fruit trays candle stands and lamps.

Chùa Giao Quang tightly connects with the lives of local people. It holds historical cultural and artistic values. It also served as a revolutionary site. It contributed to the area’s long-standing cultural traditions.

Hanoi’s People’s Committee recognized Chùa Giao Quang as an architectural art relic in 2007. It stands as a testament to time. Chùa Giao Quang shows the enduring spirit of Hanoi.

The temple is more than just a building. It’s a keeper of memories a symbol of faith and a landmark. Imagine the countless prayers whispered here. Think of the festivals celebrated within its walls. Picture the generations who have sought solace and inspiration here at Chùa Giao Quang. It really tells of Hanoi’s cultural and spiritual heritage.
