“Looking for friendship and faith in Frankfurt?” That’s the welcoming spirit of the Christus Gemeinde. This evangelical free church is located in the Preungesheim district. It offers a warm invitation to all.
The Christus Gemeinde had humble beginnings. It started with a private home group in 2000. Members came from various church backgrounds. These included Free Evangelical Churches, Baptists, and the Brethren movement. Over time, the desire grew for a more independent church. This led to the founding of the Christus Gemeinde.
The Christus Gemeinde is independent. It doesn’t belong to any state church or specific denomination. It manages itself. The church is funded by donations and member contributions. Its structure is anchored in the association statutes. The Amtsgericht Frankfurt confirmed it as a registered association. The Finanzamt recognizes it as non-profit.
The Bible is central to the Christus Gemeinde. It serves as the foundation for belief, teaching, and life. To become a member, one must confess faith in Jesus Christ. They must believe in forgiveness of sins. Their life should be guided by faith in Him. Jesus Christ is the head of the church. He is the Son of God and the creator of the world. All members contribute their gifts. The Holy Spirit inspires these gifts. Therefore, all members actively participate in church life. There is no distinction between clergy and laity.
The church proclaims Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection. It celebrates the Lord’s Supper. Only those in fellowship with Jesus Christ should participate. Baptism occurs upon personal faith decision. It is in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Infant baptism is not practiced. Children learn about faith through biblical stories in Sunday school.
The Christus Gemeinde gathers in Homburger Landstraße 145. You will find them on the first floor. Sunday services begin at 10:30 a.m. The sermon is central. Hearing aids are available. Children have their own service for those aged three and up. Younger children can use a separate room. The service is broadcast there. Every two months, the church holds a praise service. It starts at 4:00 p.m. There is no 10:30 a.m. service on those Sundays.
Praise services are filled with music. The congregation sings. They pray together. They listen to God’s Word. The Christus Gemeinde also offers a Bible study every Friday at 8:00 p.m. Verses of the Bible are examined. There is also a youth group. It is for those aged 15 to 30. The group meets once a month.
The Christus Gemeinde organizes retreats when possible. Members spend several days together. They study a specific biblical theme. Outings and activities are also part of the retreat.
Whether you’re seeking spiritual growth or a welcoming community, the Christus Gemeinde opens its doors. Here in Frankfurt, you’ll find a place to explore faith and build lasting friendships.
