One of the angels, gracefully playing amongst his brethren, holds an instrument not originally part of the artwork. During the restoration of the fresco in 1950, the artist Harry MacLean took some creative liberty, adding a bassoon to the angelic ensemble. The Christkönigkirche is known for its rich history and captivating art, but sometimes, it’s the subtle details that truly fascinate. The original fresco, created around 1440, depicts eight angels, each playing a unique instrument, surrounding a Holy Ghost hole.
