Ever wondered about a church born from the ashes of genocide? That’s Christian Life Assembly in Kigali. It stands as a testament to faith and renewal.
Christian Life Assembly is more than just a religious ministry. It is a member church of the Rwanda Pentecostal Assemblies of God. This affiliation includes over 100 churches nationwide. But its story goes much deeper than that.
In 1999, Kigali Pentecostals extended an invitation to Pastor Elmer Komant and his wife. They were asked to plant Christian Life Assembly. This was partly to address the needs of refugees returning after the genocide. Imagine, over one million people returning to rebuild their lives. Christian Life Assembly stepped up to meet their spiritual needs.
Pastor Komant, associated with the Canadian Assemblies of God, had served in East Africa for 35 years. He served in Zambia, Kenya, and Rwanda. He emphasized a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This was key to attracting Rwandans.
The church’s mission goes beyond religious services. Christian Life Assembly is a dynamic community. It centers around the Bible. It believes in the power of a personal relationship with Jesus. The church has a cell-based structure. This helps to foster connections. Small groups meet every Wednesday in homes across the city. These cells create a nurturing environment. People share their insights. They support each other’s faith journeys.
Visiting Christian Life Assembly is an experience. The church building may be modest. But it accommodates hundreds of people every Sunday. Services begin with prayer and praise. The music includes songs by Hillsong United. Sermons weave together Bible verses and personal stories.
One visitor recalled a Father’s Day service. The pastor spoke about the significance of paternal roles. He connected them to God. The pastor added that God created family relationships. Through faith, people become part of God’s family through Jesus.
Newcomers are warmly welcomed at Christian Life Assembly. Church members introduce them to the cell group structure. Even visitors are offered a complimentary Fanta. Christian Life Assembly embraces the transformative potential of faith. It invites everyone to join this community. Here, faith comes alive. Lives are forever changed.
Christian Life Assembly stands as a beacon of hope in Kigali. It shows the resilience of faith. It illustrates the power of community. It all began with a simple goal. It was a goal to rebuild lives after tragedy. Today, it continues to thrive. It welcomes all who seek spiritual growth and connection.
