Is this a mirage shimmering in the Texas heat? No. It’s the Christ Way Missionary Baptist Church, a beacon of faith and resilience right here in Houston. This church wasn’t always the grand structure you see before you. Christ Way Missionary Baptist Church has a story etched in determination and fueled by the unwavering faith of its congregation. It all began in March 1993, a mere ten souls heeding a divine call. Led by Pastor Wiley Toston, they embarked on their journey of faith. Their first home was a humble abode on Gasmer Drive. Yet, the congregation held fast to their vision, a vision of a permanent sanctuary where their voices could rise in unison, praising the Lord. Today, the Christ Way Missionary Baptist Church stands proudly on Laura Koppe Road, a testament to their perseverance and unwavering belief. But their journey doesn’t end there. They’re reaching out, touching lives, and transforming their community one soul at a time. They believe in action, in “being fishers of men,” as their pastor often says. They are a testament to the power of faith and the unwavering spirit of community.
