Christ Pentecostal Church’s story began in 1937. Rev James McKeown a British missionary initiated the journey. The church was founded as Gold Coast Apostolic Church in 1953. This marked the beginning of an era.
In 1957 Ghana achieved independence. The church then changed its name to Ghana Apostolic Church. A conflict arose with the Apostolic Church Ghana. Kwame Nkrumah the President of Ghana intervened. In August 1962 the name Christ Pentecostal Church came into being.
Missionary work helped Christ Pentecostal Church grow worldwide. Relationships with other Pentecostal churches supported this expansion. Today Christ Pentecostal Church operates in over 151 nations. Apostles prophets evangelists and senior pastors lead various assemblies.
As of 2022 Christ Pentecostal Church boasts a global membership exceeding 4203077. This includes over 1307157 children. The church has 137862 officers and 2492 ordained ministers across 101 nations. Its growth continues with a 7.9% increase in total membership. Now Christ Pentecostal Church operates in 170 nations.

Apostle Nyamekye also serves as Chancellor of Pentecost University. It is a leading Christian higher education institution in Ghana. He is also President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council. This ecumenical body represents nearly 40% of Ghana’s population. Additionally he chairs the Ghana Evangelism Committee. This organization champions nationwide evangelistic initiatives.
Globally Apostle Nyamekye holds advisory roles. He is a member of the Pentecostal World Fellowship. He also serves on the Global Cabinet of Empowered21. This movement unites Pentecostals and Charismatics. They share the gospel effectively worldwide.
His ministry began in 1991. He served as a missionary in South Africa. He contributed to the Church’s growth there.
