Here stands the Christ Apostolic Church – La Central a testament to a journey that began in 1917. Apostle Peter Anim founded the Christ Apostolic Church International. It started as a small prayer group. This group evolved into a national and international Christian organization.

The Christ Apostolic Church’s origins trace back to Apostle Anim’s search for deeper religious understanding. He found inspiration in “The Sword of the Spirit”. This periodical was edited by Pastor A Clark. Clark’s teachings emphasized faith healing and holiness. Anim resonated with these ideas.

Anim had suffered from chronic stomach trouble. In 1921 he also developed guinea worm disease. He embraced Clark’s teachings on healing. Miraculously he was healed. This experience fueled his ministry.

In 1922 Anim adopted the name Faith Tabernacle for his organization. His movement experienced significant growth. The chief of Asamankese, Nana Kwaku Amoah, offered land. Here they constructed their first church building.

The Christ Apostolic Church International takes pride in spearheading the Pentecostal movement in Ghana. It is acknowledged as the pioneer of classical Pentecostalism. In May 1923 the Holy Spirit revealed himself. It took the form of fire on the new church building during a revival.

Anim sought further affiliation. In 1930 he connected with the Apostolic Faith. This was founded by Pastor Florence Louise Crawford. He wanted to learn more about the Holy Spirit.

The Christ Apostolic Church International faced challenges. A controversy arose in 1939. It concerned divine healing and medical treatment. This led to a separation between Anim and Pastor James McKeown.

Despite challenges the Christ Apostolic Church persevered. It has grown to include around 2000 branch churches. The Christ Apostolic Church celebrated its 90th Anniversary in 2007. Today it boasts a membership of approximately 300000. These members are spread across Ghana and beyond.

The Christ Apostolic Church International has made significant contributions to national development. These include establishing schools and a university college. The church also supports various initiatives. These initiatives include a scholarship scheme and a relief agency.

The Christ Apostolic Church continues to thrive. It stands as a testament to faith. It demonstrates resilience. Its journey began with a small prayer group. It has become a global force. The Christ Apostolic Church International remains committed to spreading its message of hope. It promotes socio-economic development.
