Christ Apostolic Church International, nestled in Accra, Ghana, has a captivating history. Its origins trace back to 1917 with Apostle Peter Anim’s prayer group in Asamankese. Initially called the Faith Tabernacle, it later aligned with the Apostolic Church of Bradford, UK. A pivotal moment in 1923 ignited the church’s growth. During a revival, flames were witnessed on the roof of the newly constructed temple in Asamankese. This event solidified the church’s presence. It became known as the Holy Ghost Temple. In 1932, a significant outpouring of the Holy Spirit further fueled its expansion. However, a disagreement arose in 1937. When missionary James McKeown sought medical treatment for malaria, it clashed with the church’s belief in divine healing. This led to McKeown’s relocation and the church’s eventual renaming. In 1939, guided by prophecy, it became Christ Apostolic Church. The church moved its headquarters to Accra, first to Teshie in 1960, and then to Osu in 1982. Today, Christ Apostolic Church International has thousands of assemblies in Ghana and abroad. It continues to preach the gospel and strives for socio-economic development. From a small prayer group, it has become a prominent Pentecostal church. It has made a significant impact on Ghana’s religious landscape.
