Hidden within Beijing’s bustling streets lies a campus brimming with history. China Agricultural University – East Campus isn’t just a place of learning. It’s a testament to a century of agricultural innovation. China Agricultural University, or CAU as it’s often called, stands as a beacon of agricultural education. The East Campus is one of three campuses, each contributing to CAU’s legacy. Did you know that CAU’s roots trace back to 1905? It began as the College of Agriculture at the Imperial University of Peking. Over time, three agricultural colleges merged to form Beijing Agricultural University (BAU). Then, in 1995, BAU combined with Beijing Agricultural Engineering University (BAEU) to create the China Agricultural University we know today. Even former Chinese President Jiang Zemin himself penned CAU’s name in Chinese calligraphy, a testament to its importance. CAU is not just focused on farming. It’s a comprehensive university covering diverse fields like life sciences, resources and environment, and even economics and social sciences. It boasts being a “research-oriented institute”. CAU actively seeks to apply its research to national economic development, earning numerous state and ministerial awards for its contributions. Today, China Agricultural University – East Campus continues this legacy of innovation. It offers a wide array of programs, contributing to China’s agricultural advancement and global impact.
