It was later rededicated to San Cajo, which eventually morphed into San Gaggio. The powerful Corsini family became its patrons, their influence evident in the church’s almost fortress-like appearance. Inside, the Chiesa di San Gaggio holds a wealth of art and history. The chapel of St Andrea Corsini is a particular highlight. It’s adorned with frescoes by Bernardino Poccetti’s studio and an impressive altarpiece. This altarpiece depicts the ‘Assumption and Saints’, a masterpiece by the studio of Francesco Brina.
