The building was splendid but simple. It served as a weekend home for several families. André Beautier, grandson of the original owners, lived here until 1962. He was an honorary curator of the Royal Museums.
In 1961, the municipality of Jette purchased the chalet. The goal was to create a cultural center. Renovation work began. However, the project halted when the contractor went bankrupt. The abandoned chalet fell victim to vandalism. In 1990, the Region took over. It renovated the building.
The Chalet du Laerbeek reopened in July 1991. It became a classic brasserie. It could host hundreds of people. Many receptions and ceremonies took place here.
In 2011, the Chalet du Laerbeek was sold again. It joined the Brussels group Restauration Nouvelle. After renovations, it reopened in spring 2012.
