Thirty years of history echo within these walls. It is the Centro Superior de Diseño de Moda. This isn’t just a school. It’s a launchpad for Spain’s brightest fashion stars.

The Centro Superior de Diseño de Moda is part of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. The college is a fashion education leader. It supports Madrid as a fashion capital. The college celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2016. The celebration included a fashion show. It took place on Conde Duque street. Ana Locking directed the show. She is a designer and professor at the Centro Superior de Diseño de Moda. Students presented over 50 original pieces. They designed and made the pieces themselves.

Manuel Blanco directed the artistic side of the show. He is the director of the Centro Superior de Diseño de Moda. The show supported the country’s up-and-coming designers. The Centro Superior de Diseño de Moda constantly adapts its programs.

In 2014, it began offering an official university degree in Fashion Design. It is also the only center in Spain. It is the only one in Europe to offer a doctorate program in fashion. The Centro Superior de Diseño de Moda won the National Fashion Award in 2016. Queen Letizia presented the award at the Museo del Traje. The Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism gives the award. It recognizes merit and supports Spain’s fashion sector.

Leading designers teach at the Centro Superior de Diseño de Moda. Ana Locking and Maya Hansen are among them. Daniel Rabaneda, Miguel Becer, Juan Vidal and María Ke Fisherman also teach here. They share design techniques and industry insights.

Over 1,000 designers have graduated from here. Amaya Arzuaga and Nacho Aguayo are alumni. Clara Bilbao is also an alumni. She has won two Goya Awards for Best Costume Design. The BBVA Foundation and the Valencian Institute of Economic Research ranked CSDMM first. It was named the best university center in Spain for design. The ranking considered faculty quality and research. Innovation and technological development were also considered.

The Centro Superior de Diseño de Moda partners with H&M. Together, they run the CSDMM&H&M Circular Program. This project promotes sustainable fashion. Students learn to transform garments. They learn to use recycled materials. The program encourages a focus on sustainability. Students learn that sustainable fashion considers environmental impact. They explore ways to reduce waste.
