“Imagine a place built of exposed brick walls” This is the Centre Paroissial De Malagnou. Its story begins not in the imposing structure before you but in a small villa. In 1951 a parish was established. Sunday services started in 1953 in that unassuming villa at 2 Chemin de Rieu.

The Malagnou parish was quite young then. It separated from the Eaux-Vives parish in 1956. This was a significant step towards its own identity. The architects Michel and Gilbert Frey won a competition in 1958. Their design would shape the Centre Paroissial.

However construction of the Centre Paroissial and its temple would not begin for years. It was only in 1970-1971 that Michel Frey and Gerard Varesio finally built it. The sanctuary features those distinctive exposed brick walls. Six stained-glass panels made of glass tiles enhance the interior. Artist Bodjol created them.

An awning was added in 1976. This addition is documented in the book “Route de Malagnou” by Armand Brulhart and Erica Deuber-Pauli. They note the architectural details. The Centre Paroissial De Malagnou stands as a testament to the community’s faith and vision. It is more than just a building. It’s a hub of activity a place of gathering a space where the community’s spiritual life thrives. Thirteen parking spaces are available. You can contact the parish office for information about using the Centre Paroissial. It has a room of about 50 square meters. It’s a place of quiet reflection and lively gatherings.
