A kaleidoscope of cultures. That’s the essence of Centre Chrétien Agape e.V. in Berlin. Here, amidst the vibrant tapestry of the city, a unique spiritual community thrives. Centre Chrétien Agape e.V. isn’t just a church. It’s a testament to the power of faith across borders, a place where people from Germany, Cameroon, France, Congo-Kinshasa, Congo-Brazzaville, Angola, Benin, Togo, Gabon, Ivory Coast, and Burkina Faso gather under one roof. Initially founded by a congregation of Congolese and Angolan believers, Centre Chrétien Agape e.V. has blossomed into a truly diverse family. Since 2015, it has welcomed an increasing number of Francophone members from various nations, enriching its already vibrant cultural mix. Imagine a Sunday service at Centre Chrétien Agape e.V.. The air is filled with the harmonious blend of French, German, and English. The sermon, delivered in French, is simultaneously translated into German. If needed, translations in English or Portuguese are also provided, ensuring that everyone feels included and understood. The choir’s melodies further enhance this multilingual atmosphere, with songs of praise resonating in French, German, and English. The spirit of inclusivity extends beyond the main service. Even the children’s and youth programs embrace multilingualism. Children’s services are conducted in German, but songs are sung in German, French, and English, fostering a sense of unity and understanding among the young generation. Leading this diverse congregation is Pastor Alain Okito, who founded Centre Chrétien Agape e.V. in November 2016. He is supported by an eight-member board, representing various nationalities, predominantly from Central Africa, France, and Germany. This dedicated team, comprised of both immigrants and locals, works tirelessly on a voluntary basis to ensure the smooth running of the church and its various programs. Centre Chrétien Agape e.V. goes beyond traditional religious services. It provides spiritual guidance through prayer and Bible study groups, supporting individuals on their faith journey. The church also offers support for families and couples, assisting with communication, parenting, and other relationship challenges. Moreover, Centre Chrétien Agape e.V. extends its helping hand to refugees in Berlin and Brandenburg, providing moral and material support. Their involvement with the refugee shelter in Teltow is a testament to their commitment to social action. Centre Chrétien Agape e.V. embodies a spirit of togetherness. It is a place where cultural diversity is not just tolerated but celebrated, a sanctuary where faith transcends linguistic and national boundaries. It’s a vibrant hub where spiritual growth and social action intertwine, making it a true gem within Berlin’s diverse landscape.
