CentralPlaza Rattanathibet, once known as Central Rattanathibet Town Center, boasts a fascinating history. Originally, the space was occupied by Jusco Rattanathibet, one of the biggest shopping centers in the Mueang Nonthaburi District. It stood proudly as a symbol of progress and prosperity in 1991. The mall is a testament to Bangkok’s evolving retail landscape. Just ten years after Jusco’s establishment, Central Group added their presence to the existing complex, incorporating stores like Power Buy, Supersports, B2S, and HomeWorks.
Central Pattana acquired the mall with its sprawling 48 rai of land in 2003. It was a significant transaction, with an impressive BT650 million price tag. Jusco’s supermarket was replaced with Tops Supermarket, and the mall was rebranded to Central Rattanathibet Town Center on January 1, 2004. In 2005, Robinson Department Store opened its doors at Central Town Center, adding another layer of retail charm to the area. This two-story addition, with its impressive 12,000 square meters of space, further cemented CentralPlaza Rattanathibet’s place as a retail hub in the region.
The mall was further expanded in 2006, adding more retail space and parking facilities. Central Pattana invested BT1,882 million to complete the expansion in December 2006, and finally, the name was officially changed to CentralPlaza Rattanathibet. At every step of its journey, CentralPlaza Rattanathibet has been an embodiment of Bangkok’s dynamic growth and transformation. And currently, it stands as a testament to the city’s love for all things retail.
