It’s a living testament to faith, family, and the transformative power of belief. The story of Central Assembly of God begins in 1955. A small group, yearning for a deeper connection with God, started services. That same year, they purchased an old Jewish Synagogue. Its central location gave the burgeoning church its name: Central Assembly of God. The church officially joined the Assemblies of God in 1958 with 48 devoted members. The church’s first pastor, Reverend Donald Bogue, led the congregation from 1955-1957. He was followed by Reverend Charles Kingsfield (1957-1959). Then came Reverend Billy Bell in 1958. Under his leadership, Central Assembly of God found its current home at 3030 F Avenue NW. A pivotal moment in the church’s history arrived in April 1966. Reverend Ramon Booth took the helm, leading the congregation for an impressive 31 years. His ministry was marked by a thriving bus ministry and his mentorship of countless youth and associate pastors. Reverend Booth’s legacy continues to inspire the Central Assembly of God community. In April 1997, Reverend Mark Thomas became the current pastor. He spearheaded the construction of Booth Fellowship Hall, completed in 2005. Under his guidance, Central Assembly of God continues its mission of spiritual growth and revival. Today, Central Assembly of God’s mission is to make Disciples of Jesus Christ. They strive for the transformation of Horseheads and the world. The church invites everyone to experience the power of faith and the warmth of a caring community. Central Assembly of God believes that meeting the Master is paramount. It welcomes all who seek a deeper connection with God and with each other.
