A glimmering beacon of artistry, the Centered Sculpture stands tall in the heart of Orlando’s Lake Eola Park. Have you ever seen a 25-foot-tall metal eye gazing back at you? That’s Centered. This captivating sculpture, with its kinetic element at its core, is the brainchild of artist CJ Rench.
The Centered Sculpture wasn’t always a part of Lake Eola’s charm. It was actually a generous donation to the City of Orlando from Universal Resort Orlando in 2013. It was part of the “See Art Orlando” project, which introduced eight unique sculptures throughout downtown Orlando. Centered stands as a testament to the city’s desire to intertwine art with everyday life.
But there’s more to the Centered Sculpture than meets the eye. Rench, known for his large-scale public works, didn’t just create a stationary piece. The kinetic element in the center of the eye is designed to move with the wind. This creates an ever-changing visual experience. It’s as if the sculpture breathes along with the city.
