In 1996, the world watched as athletes competed for glory within these very walls. Center Parc Stadium, then known as Centennial Olympic Stadium, pulsated with the energy of the Summer Olympics. Center Parc Stadium’s story began with the 1996 Olympic Games, serving as the main track and field venue. After the Paralympics, a dramatic transformation began. The north end was removed, and Center Parc Stadium, rechristened Turner Field, became the home of the Atlanta Braves. For twenty years, baseball fans cheered on their team within these walls. They witnessed iconic moments like Hank Aaron’s 755th home run plaque, a testament to his record-breaking feat. The stadium hosted games 1 and 2 of the 1999 World Series and the 2000 Major League Baseball All-Star Game. When the Braves moved to Truist Park in 2016, Center Parc Stadium embarked on another chapter. Georgia State University acquired the stadium and its surrounding area. They began another transformation, adapting the baseball field into a football stadium. The university preserved elements of its baseball past while creating a new home for the Georgia State Panthers. The stadium was initially renamed Georgia State Stadium before adopting its current name, Center Parc Stadium, in 2020 through a naming rights agreement with Atlanta Postal Credit Union. Today, Center Parc Stadium is a vibrant hub for college football. It hosts up to 24,333 fans, a fitting size for the growing Panthers program. The stadium’s design ensures excellent views from every seat. The lower bowl provides a close-up experience, while the upper deck offers a panoramic perspective. The end zones provide the best views of those thrilling touchdowns. Center Parc Stadium also welcomes other sports, like soccer and the MEAC/SWAC Challenge. It even hosted the Atlanta Legends of the Alliance of American Football in 2019. Beyond sports, Center Parc Stadium has hosted concerts, including the Foo Fighters in 2018.
