The Lillian Goldman Reading Room and the Ackman & Ziff Family Genealogy Institute are just two of its many facilities. It even has a Collection Management and Conservation Wing ensuring these priceless artifacts are preserved for generations to come. The Center is an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution solidifying its status as a world-renowned institution.

From the early modern era in Europe to present-day materials from around the world the Center’s collection is incredibly diverse. It holds personal items like Moses Mendelssohn’s eyeglasses. It also contains historical documents including a 1478 record of the trial of Simon of Trent. Artworks by Max Liebermann add to the incredible breadth of its collection.

Digital initiatives are a key component of the Center’s work. Projects like “Illuminating Hidden Collections” have brought many items online. The Center has also generously contributed to the Google Art Project providing high-resolution images of their holdings.
