Did you know that Caterpillar has significantly invested in Dubai? Specifically, Caterpillar opened a major parts distribution center here in the United Arab Emirates. This distribution center aimed to bolster its support throughout East Africa and the Middle East.
Let’s talk more about this impressive facility. The Middle East Distribution Center spans 46450 square meters. That is huge. It employs around 130 people. This Dubai center joins a network of other centers. These are in Texas, Ohio, Washington, and California.
Caterpillar’s vice president Nigel Lewis said they are excited about growth opportunities in the Middle East and Africa. Along with their dealers, they are expanding their facilities. The Dubai center improves parts availability and the delivery process. This benefits dealers and customers.
Caterpillar Logistics Services, a subsidiary, announced these plans. The Dubai center became the third facility added to Caterpillar’s global network in five years. It enhances the Europe, Africa, and Middle East Cat Parts distribution network.
Steve Larson, a Caterpillar vice president, said they are pleased to add the Dubai Distribution Center to their global parts network. The center increases warehouse capacity for the EAME network. Existing centers are in Belgium, South Africa, and Moscow.
The SAP Service Parts Management system is deployed here. It replaces older software systems supporting the Cat Parts network. Dubai’s facility contributes to Caterpillar’s sustainable development goals. It reduces airfreight for parts ordered in the region. Operations began in 2012.
Caterpillar also invested in a Regional Training Center in Jebel Ali, Dubai. This 5100 square-foot facility offers technical and sales training. It is for dealers and customers in Africa and the Middle East. The center includes a lab for oil sample analysis. This helps reduce downtime for Caterpillar products.
The Dubai RTC is on the same site as the parts distribution warehouse. Caterpillar anticipated a 50 percent expansion in its spare parts business in the AME region. The 11-hectare site houses 96000 spare parts. Customers see improved availability and speed in filling orders. The AME distribution center is one of eight outside North America.
So, as you can see, Caterpillar’s presence here in Dubai isn’t just about one facility. It’s a comprehensive investment in infrastructure and support. This ensures that Caterpillar’s customers in the Middle East and Africa receive world-class service. This commitment strengthens Caterpillar’s position as a leader in the industry.
