Did you know that before the Cathedral of Faith Church of God in Christ found its home on Avon Avenue, it began its journey on Simpson Road? In 1940 a devoted group of worshippers gathered in a humble home. They shared a powerful dream: to build a space where their community could gather in faith. This dream led them to purchase a building on Jones Avenue. Their first sanctuary, dedicated in July 1945, marked the beginning of their journey as the Jones Avenue Church of God in Christ. Over the years, the church thrived under the guidance of remarkable leaders like Elder George Briley, who faithfully served the congregation for over 46 years. As their faith resonated through the community, the Cathedral of Faith Church of God in Christ outgrew its Jones Avenue location. In 1972, they embarked on a new chapter, moving to their current location on Avon Avenue. This move signified more than just a change of address. It represented the church’s unwavering commitment to expanding its reach and touching more lives with the message of hope and love. Today, the Cathedral of Faith Church of God in Christ stands as a testament to the enduring power of faith and community in Atlanta.
