Have you ever heard of Cassina Amata? It’s a small neighborhood located in Paderno Dugnano, which is just outside of Milan. While the area has been inhabited for over a thousand years, the name Cassina Amata first appeared in official records in 1697, when the Imbonati family was granted the right to govern it. The name actually means “beloved farmhouse” or “loved farmhouse,” which is a pretty sweet way to describe your humble abode if you think about it. During the Napoleonic era in the early 1800s, Cassina Amata was briefly absorbed into the larger municipality of Senago before being returned to Paderno Dugnano in 1816. Today, Cassina Amata is a charming little corner of metropolitan Milan, blending history, culture, and modern life.
