Built in 1730 Cascina Pareana near Carugate has a fascinating history. It stands proudly near the border with Carugate in an area once part of Cassina Baraggia. The name Pareana is believed to derive from a bird once hunted in the area. Imagine the sounds of those hunts echoing across the fields.

For centuries Cascina Pareana belonged to the Counts Durini. Later the property passed to the Brivio Marquises who still own it today. Picture their carriages arriving at the farmhouse. Envision the bustling life within its walls.

Despite being divided among various tenants the original architecture is remarkably well-preserved. The well and wood-fired oven remain in their original form. This is a testament to the enduring quality of its construction.

A glimpse into the past is offered through the writings of the Brugherio parish priest Paolo Antonio De Petri. In his late 18th-century chronicle he described Cascina Pariana as belonging to the Counts Durini. He noted its 400 perches of land and the image of the infant Jesus adored by the Magi painted on the house. He also praised the abundance of wine it produced.

Cascina Pareana is more than just a farmhouse. It’s a living link to the agricultural past of this region. It’s a quiet witness to centuries of change. It’s a story whispered on the wind a testament to time itself. The farmhouse stands as a reminder of simpler times and enduring traditions.
