Like a mustard seed, Cascina Gallazzi grew into something significant. It became the heart of the Gallazzi family. The Gallazzi name is very common in this city.

Welcome to Cascina Gallazzi. It stands as a testament to a bygone era. Once, the area around Cascina Gallazzi was like a paradise. It had small fields surrounded by trees. The air was filled with the scents of corn and clover. There were also fruit trees and vegetable gardens.

Imagine life around Cascina Gallazzi long ago. Busto consisted of houses around three churches. To reach a cascina, you had to walk about half a mile. The people near the churches were called “bustocchi”. People living in the isolated cascine were called “cassinati”. Over time, Busto expanded and included the cascine.

Cascina Gallazzi also has its own small church. The cornerstone was laid on August 4, 1665. The church was completed in 1668. Francesco Bossi blessed it. In 1684, they built the sacristy and a cemetery.

An interesting story involves Pierino Comotti. He was a textile executive who wanted to fly in a balloon. His balloon landed in a field near the Cascina dei Poveri, which is a different location. People rushed to help him. When he asked their name, they shouted “We are all Gallazzi”. This shows how many Gallazzi lived around Cascina Gallazzi.

In December 1957, about twenty families lived at Cascina Gallazzi. Gradually, they left to find better homes. Now, the old Cascina Gallazzi is mostly ruins. The walls are cracked. The roof has collapsed. Yet, it reminds us of a time when a community thrived here.

Even in its ruined state, Cascina Gallazzi tells a story. It reminds us of simpler times. It evokes a sense of melancholy. The old walls whisper tales of family gatherings. The fields surrounding once were full of life. The building may be old, but it is still a memorable part of the area. It is an important reminder of a past that shaped the region.

When the bulldozers destroy everything around Cascina Gallazzi, many Gallazzi will cry. They will feel like their childhood memories are being ripped away.
