Giacomo Tazzini envisioned more than just a building. Cascina Costa Alta stands before you. It is more than just bricks, wood, and stone. It embodies a welcoming community. Let’s journey back to discover its history.

Cascina Costa Alta was once the Royal Stable in the early 19th century. It sits near the gates of Biassono and Santa Maria delle Selve. Its design echoes stately villas. Architect Giacomo Tazzini developed the project around 1824. He had worked alongside Canonica for eight years prior.

Tazzini was the Architect of the Royal Buildings. Cascina Costa Alta has arched windows and a tympanum. These features recall stately villas. A belvedere completes the design. The Lose couple immortalized its beauty. Their etchings showcased the Promenade dans le Parc Impérial et Royal et les Jardins de Monza.

The building has three structures around a rustic courtyard. The main facade features a portico. Six stone columns support it on the ground floor. A central staircase leads to two rooms on each side. One room even has an oven. An old stone well is visible under the portico on the right.

In 2015, after renovations, Cascina Costa Alta became a youth hostel. A multipurpose room on the first floor overlooks the meadows. There is also a restaurant bar.

Since 2001, Cooperativa Sociale META Onlus has managed Cascina Costa Alta. They operate under a concession from the City of Monza. The Reggia di Monza and Parco Regionale Valle del Lambro support them.

Cascina Costa Alta is a place for diverse projects. It offers tourist and social hospitality. Educational projects cater to children, families, and people with disabilities.

The Costa Alta Hostel is the first accommodation within Monza Park. It is a natural oasis near the city. Meadows and forests surround it. Guests can choose shared or private rooms. Cozy common areas are available for leisure and cooking.

META Onlus was founded in 1991. Teachers and pedagogists turned their dreams into a social enterprise. They envisioned Monza Park as a green space distinct from the urban environment. This became a powerful educational tool. The first “School in Nature” programs were born. These adventure and discovery experiences continue today. Verdestate Summer Center operates at Cascina Costa Alta.

META’s activities have evolved over thirty years. They maintain a focus on accessibility and inclusion. Services include youth centers, school assistance, and summer camps. They also offer tourist and social hospitality.

Cascina Costa Alta is dedicated to inclusion. It is a laboratory for sustainable development and social cohesion. Everyone can share spaces, resources, time, and ideas here.

Travelers and families can discover welcoming places here. The hospitality aims to make guests feel at home. It is the starting point for authentic experiences.

Every day, the team cares for this place. They strive to make it more welcoming. This microcosm of bricks, wood, and stone, embodies a welcoming community. Cascina Costa Alta stands as a testament to inclusion and community.
