Originally built in 1847, Cascina Cernuschi wasn’t always the home of the Carabinieri, the Italian police force. It started its life as a humble farmstead, a typical “cascina”, designed by the architect Giacomo Tazzini. The layout of Cascina Cernuschi is unique – two distinct sections forming a “T” shape. This design reflects its evolution from a working farm to a military complex. The western building, with its brick walls and tiled roof, housed the farm’s primary functions.
