It’s a time capsule nestled within Parque Ecológico Estatal Kabah. Casa Lima Museo Parque offers a glimpse into the city’s humble beginnings. The story begins in 1969 with Don José de Jesús Lima Gutiérrez. He built this very house. From 1970 to 1992, it served as the offices for Fonatur, the organization responsible for Cancún’s development. Then, a remarkable thing happened. In 1993, the entire house was carefully deconstructed, piece by piece. It was then moved to its current location in the park and meticulously reassembled. This careful relocation ensured the preservation of a vital piece of Cancún’s history. Casa Lima Museo Parque officially opened its doors on May 1, 1998. Today, it houses a collection of 410 historical artifacts and photographs. The museum’s two permanent exhibit halls, with their polished tile floors and thatched roofs, transport you to another time.
