It was significantly remodeled in the 19th century. The chapel’s facade is a testament to this 19th-century renovation. The current structure boasts a longitudinal plan. It features a single nave and a chancel. There’s also a sacristy and a hall attached to the side. The main facade is crowned by a cross. It has a main portal framed by a full arch. Above the arch, a circular oculus looks out. The granite exterior, painted white, adds to its simple elegance. The side walls have rectangular windows and straight-lintel doors. An exterior staircase provides access to the choir loft. Inside the Capela de Nossa Senhora do Viso, the granite continues. The interior is stark, almost austere. It has a modern choir loft supported by concrete beams and stone corbels. A triumphal arch rests on Tuscan pilasters. In the chancel’s end wall, a niche holds a statue perched on a stone corbel adorned with plant motifs. The chapel’s location, on Monte d’O Viso in the Serra do Leboreiro, offers stunning views. This isolated rural setting enhances the chapel’s tranquility. The surrounding area provides a peaceful respite. There’s even a picnic park about 250 meters north of the chapel, perfect for a quiet afternoon. The Capela de Nossa Senhora do Viso remains an active place of worship. It is now known as the Santuário de Nossa Senhora do Viso. The chapel is under the ownership of the Catholic Church. It is administered by the Diocese of Braga.
