Amidst the urban tapestry of Barcelona, rises the Càntic Solidari Sculpture. It stands as a testament to peace and solidarity. The Càntic Solidari Sculpture was inaugurated in 1996. It’s located in a roundabout, which unfortunately diminishes its presence. The sculpture features two vaguely anthropomorphic figures crafted from stainless steel. They are embraced within a polygonal frame, holding hands. This poignant artwork was created as an allegory for peace. Its creation coincided with the Balkan War, a stark contrast to the message it conveys. At the base of the Càntic Solidari Sculpture, an inscription reads: “The city of L’Hospitalet to Tuzla / March 30, 1996”. This inscription signifies a bond between two cities. It marks a moment of shared hope amidst conflict. The sculpture itself consists of a pentagonal structure. Inside, two figures, one male and one female, stand hand in hand. Their heads are absent, symbolizing perhaps a shared humanity beyond individual identities. A circle and a half-moon crown the figures. The Càntic Solidari Sculpture rests on a semicircular base. This base adapts to the sloping terrain of the square. It features a concrete wall. An aluminum plaque is affixed to the wall, bearing the dedication. Surrounding the sculpture is a raised flowerbed. Low-growing plants cover it, softening the hard lines of the steel and concrete. The Càntic Solidari Sculpture represents a powerful message of hope. It serves as a reminder of the importance of solidarity in times of conflict.
