“Welcome to the Hölle Nord!” a voice booms. That is what they call the Campushalle. This multipurpose hall is more than just a building. It is a cauldron of passion. It is located on the Flensburg University campus.

The Campushalle has a rich history. Since 2001, it has been home to the SG Flensburg-Handewitt handball team. Imagine the roar of the crowd. Picture 6,500 fans cheering. The Campushalle boasts the largest standing-room tribune in the Handball-Bundesliga with 1,500 places.

Before 2012, the hall was already known as Campushalle. The Flensburg brewery took over the naming rights in November 2012. It became the FLENS-ARENA. In January 2023, it reverted to Campushalle. In October 2024, it was named GP JOULE Arena.

But the Campushalle is not just for handball. It hosts concerts, trade fairs and university events. Up to 5,000 visitors can attend these events. The hall is a vibrant hub of activity.

Think about the atmosphere during a handball match. The fans are the “eighth man”. They create a fortress behind their team. This electrifying atmosphere is worth experiencing.

The Campushalle is known as the “Hölle Nord” for a reason. Opposing teams dread playing here. The close proximity of the fans to the field amplifies the intensity. Every game feels like a battle.

Before entering, take note of Lars Christiansen Platz. The city named the square after the SG legend in 2010. Seven other legendary SG players reside in the Hall of Fame. Find Jan Holpert, Anders Eggert and Thomas Mogensen.

Remember the SG Flensburg-Handewitt’s unexpected championship in 2018. The celebrations spilled onto the forecourt. Thousands of fans celebrated.

Accessibility is a priority. A ramp to the left of the GP JOULE Arena provides easy access. It is convenient for wheelchair users and families with strollers. There are 14 free parking spaces for visitors with disabilities.

Inside, accessible restrooms are available. A lift connects the main level. All counters are easily reachable.

Keep in mind a few rules for entry. Bags larger than DIN A4 are not allowed. Helmets and large containers are prohibited. Security checks are thorough. This ensures everyone’s safety.

Whether you are here for handball, a concert, or a university event, the GP JOULE Arena promises an unforgettable experience. It embodies the spirit of Flensburg. It is a place where sport, culture and community converge.
