The CampusGärten Charlottenburg emerged from the UniGardening project. The initiative gained momentum after winning a prize in the TU’s sustainability ideas competition. The core concept was simple. It was to transform parts of the Campus Charlottenburg into an edible landscape.
In 2018, a student competition sought innovative designs. Students were to create modules applicable across the TU Berlin grounds. These modules would transform the campus into an edible space.
The project is more than just gardening. It offers students and staff opportunities to engage in urban agriculture. They can cultivate useful and nutritional plants. The CampusGärten Charlottenburg offers allotment sponsorships for the gardening season.
Students can use the gardens for hobby gardening. Also the gardens can be integrated into teaching and research. Bachelor’s and master’s theses can also explore gardening.

The garden is located on Straße des 17. Juni. It has an area of seven square meters. It is a network of small gardens.
The CampusGärten Charlottenburg began in 2015. The Tatendrang-Netzwerk, an independent university group, started it. Today, the UniGardening network supports the project. The TU Berlin and UdK Berlin also support it.
