These are in the area of finance and financial law. The renowned Leibniz Institute for Financial Research SAFE is here. A group of 30 professors works here. Also, around 170 researchers work here. The State of Hessen invested significantly to build this new site for Goethe University. The House of Finance is an elegant five-story building. It was inaugurated in early 2008. It encompasses 14000 square meters. It features state-of-the-art technology. The building offers ideal working conditions. These include high tech seminar rooms. There are study rooms and its own library. The House of Finance serves as an academic center. It regularly brings together a network. That network is the economic and financial political and scientific communities.
Since 2001 the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University made this its main campus. It uses the grounds and buildings of the former IG Farben chemical group.
Next door is the Grüneburg Park. It is laid out in the English style. Next to that is the famous Palmengarten. Combined it makes an enormous green gardened area. It is right in the middle of the town.
The buildings are unique. They are often referred to by the name of the architect Hans Poelzig. When the main building was constructed it was the largest office building in Europe.
