Tucked away on North Franklin Street, Calvary Tabernacle Assembly of God Church has a story to tell. It’s a story of growth, community, and unwavering faith. Calvary Tabernacle Assembly of God Church wasn’t always the grand structure you see today. Its humble beginnings trace back to the Golden Room of the Coliseum Motor Inn in East Meadow. Just a small group of thirteen adults formed the core of this congregation. They eventually purchased the land at 78 North Franklin Street, where Calvary Tabernacle Assembly of God Church now stands. The church building underwent several renovations over the years. It needed to accommodate its growing congregation. By the turn of the 21st century, two morning services were necessary to handle the increasing attendance. Imagine the excitement on Easter Sunday 2003. A record 1,103 people filled the sanctuary and the Exodus Youth Center. The church purchased the 12,000-square-foot Exodus Youth Center in 2002. It served as a temporary home during the construction of a new sanctuary. Today, this center offers technical and academic training, as well as entertainment, for local youth. Calvary Tabernacle Assembly of God Church continued its expansion with the construction of a new sanctuary at 78 North Franklin Street. This sanctuary now seats over 700 people. The church also added a Conference and Catering Center on the third floor. Plans for acquiring a school are also in the works. Calvary Tabernacle Assembly of God Church’s journey mirrors the growth of Hempstead itself. Now with over 700 members, the church represents diverse walks of life. Throughout its history, the members of Calvary Tabernacle Assembly of God Church have initiated numerous ministries and missions in the Hempstead area. Their active involvement in the community includes providing support for those in need through missionary work and charitable giving. The heart of Calvary Tabernacle Assembly of God Church lies in its Sunday services and worship. These services draw individuals of various backgrounds and ages, ranging from infants to centenarians. Calvary Tabernacle Assembly of God Church welcomes all residents of Hempstead and the surrounding areas. It offers a place for anyone interested in receiving the Lord into their lives.
