Calvary Memorial Missionary Baptist Church has supported missionaries since 1920. That’s only five years after its founding. This commitment was there from the very beginning. The church prioritized being witnesses for Christ. This happened in local, cross-cultural, and international communities.
Today, Calvary Memorial Missionary Baptist Church supports many missionaries. There are forty-one families and singles. They serve in diverse ministries. These include working with HIV patients. They also build up local churches and teach college-level Bible courses. Some even run businesses with discipleship as their goal.
The late Rev. Dr. Manuel Lee Scott Sr. profoundly influenced many at Calvary Baptist Church. He impacted people from birth. Many members participated in every aspect of the church.
Every follower of Christ is called to be a witness. They participate in God’s global mission. Some shape their entire vocation around this calling.
Calvary Memorial Missionary Baptist Church supports global missionaries. These missionaries serve in places like Mexico and Frankfurt, Germany. You can also find them in Heredia, Costa Rica and Medellin, Colombia. Others serve in Cochabamba, Bolivia and Siberia. Some are in Chiang Mai, Thailand and Mexico City, Mexico. Others are in Paraguay, Columbia, and Valencia, Spain.
Calvary Memorial Missionary Baptist Church also recognizes retired missionaries. These individuals formerly served in India and Honduras. They also served in North Carolina, USA and Elmhurst, Illinois. Some were in Aurora, Illinois and Maine, USA. Others served in Sebring, Florida; Ohio, USA; and Verona, Virginia. One even served in Frankfurt, Germany.
The church believes in mission and evangelism. Everything they do must meet these requirements. They intend to be found faithful in both categories.
Calvary Memorial Missionary Baptist Church also emphasizes higher education. They believe a relationship with Jesus Christ is important. It secures a bright future. They feel that college education is also helpful. The church has strongly supported higher education.
