Founded in 1976 Calvary Community Church began as a small group. They met weekly at a restaurant called the Hungry Tiger. The Lord blessed their efforts. Hundreds came to hear the Gospel. The church outgrew the restaurant. They found a new home. It was an industrial space in Westlake Village. This space became affectionately known as The Warehouse. Calvary continued to grow. It made an impact on the Conejo Valley. They needed more space. In 1999 Calvary moved to a larger facility. On Palm Sunday 1999 the whole church marched to its present location. Calvary has had three senior pastors. Pastor Shawn Thornton has led since 2008. Under his leadership Calvary grew numerically and spiritually. Its local and global outreach expanded. He continued teaching Biblical truth. Calvary has many ministries. There are campus ministries community ministries and global ministries. It has strong children’s student and young adult ministries. There are small groups Bible studies classes and support groups. Community ministries feed the hungry shelter the needy and provide clothes. Globally Calvary has over 60 missions partners. They share the Good News of Jesus. Calvary has a wonderful history. God’s hand is on the church. Join us as we continue this story.
